Mind Map

A mind map is a powerful tool to generate, expand and share ideas. The combination of words, images, and connections can be more memorable and more actionable than the constituent parts alone.

For my Creative Thinking and Design Visualization class, we were instructed to use idea generation techniques with mind mapping to create a new phone or tablet application. That app that I designed in my mind map is called Open Pantry. Open Pantry, is designed for the user to shop in their own home before shopping at the store. This app allows people to have a personal up-to-date inventory of the pantry in their kitchen. The user would be able to go to the store, and know that they only have one gallon of milk left, so they should buy more. This app will let you see everything in your pantry. It will send you a notification that you food is expiring. And this app will even partner with local grocery stores to let you know if they sell a cheaper alternative to your usual products. It will let you know if you are low on ingredients and if there are sales on frequently purchased products. Open Pantry will cut back on waste in over-purchasing unnecessary food, and throwing away food. There is also a social feature that allows the user to see recipes that you already have all of the ingredients for, and even recipes that you only need one or two ingredients left to make the dish. The user can upload and share their own repiecqe and even look at friends’ recipes. Open Pantry is the ultimate pantry tool.
